The club from Częstochowa is in a deep sporting crisis. After five matchdays of the Ekstraklasa, Raków sits in last, 18th place in the table, having earned zero points. Their goal difference stands at 6 scored and 13 conceded, and they are already 15 points behind league leaders Legia Warszawa. This disastrous situation forced a change in the coaching position.
Why is Raków changing their coach?
Dawid Szulczek, who replaced the departing Dawid Kroczek, led the team in only two league matches. Both ended in defeats, at home to Górnik Zabrze and away to Lech Poznań. The final blow was a heavy 2-5 home loss to Jagiellonia Białystok. Raków also lost in the fourth qualifying round of the UEFA Conference League to Hajduk Split after extra time, despite earlier eliminating Valletta and Hammarby. The pointless start in the league and the failure to advance in Europe compelled the board to take radical action.

"The decision regarding the coach who will lead Raków Częstochowa in the upcoming matches will be made tomorrow (i.e., on Monday)." he wrote on X. What does Raków's immediate schedule look like?
The new head coach will have to get to work immediately. Raków has two important league matches before the international break. First, in the upcoming round, the Częstochowa team will play at home against Motor Lublin, who currently hold the last safe position in the table, with a five-point advantage over Raków. Is such a poor start unprecedented?
Raków's pointless start to the season is a rarity in recent Ekstraklasa history. The last team to lose its first six opening matches was Cracovia in the 2010/2011 season. That team recorded a victory only in the seventh round, beating Arka Gdynia 2-0 at home. Cracovia finished that season in 14th place, just one point ahead of Arka.
