Raków Częstochowa have officially appointed Tomasz Kaczmarek as their new head coach. The Częstochowa-based club, associated with Jasna Góra, confirmed earlier reports by activating the coach's release clause from Radomiak Radom. Weszło first reported the story.
The decision comes after a disastrous start to the 2026/2027 season. Raków failed to earn a single point after six Ekstraklasa matches and were eliminated from the UEFA Europa Conference League qualifiers by Hajduk Split. This losing streak led to the departure of Dawid Kroczek. His duties were temporarily taken over by Dawid Szulczek, but the club's board decided to seek a more decisive solution.
Why was Tomasz Kaczmarek chosen?
Tomasz Kaczmarek was previously the head coach of Radomiak Radom's first team. Raków Częstochowa paid €250,000 for him by activating a buyout clause. The coach signed a three-year contract with the Częstochowa club. His official debut on the Raków bench was scheduled for a match against Motor Lublin in the 8th round of the Ekstraklasa, set for Friday, 11 August 2026 at 18:00.
The Radom-based club confirmed the transfer in an official statement. "Raków Częstochowa activated the coach's buyout clause, and coach Kaczmarek decided to accept the offer from the Częstochowa club and continue his career there," Radomiak said. To replace Kaczmarek, the Radom team appointed his former assistant, Rafał Grzyb. His first match as head coach was scheduled for Monday, 14 August, against Piast Gliwice.
What situation does the new coach inherit?
Kaczmarek takes the helm at an extremely difficult time. According to current data as of 09 September 2026, Raków Częstochowa are in last, 18th place in the Ekstraklasa table. The team has zero points from six matches, with a record of six consecutive losses. They have scored only six goals while conceding fourteen, resulting in a -8 goal difference. They already trail league leaders Lech Poznań by sixteen points.
Such a poor run of form demanded an immediate reaction. The new coach faces the tough task of reversing the negative trend and improving the team's morale. The club hopes his experience and fresh perspective will help pull the team out of crisis. A press conference featuring Kaczmarek and club owner Michał Świerczewski was scheduled before the match with Motor Lublin.
What challenges await the team in the near future?
