Raków Częstochowa suffered a dramatic 2-1 defeat to Wisła Kraków in the 12th round of the PKO BP Ekstraklasa. Kacper Duda scored the winning goal in the 10th minute of added time, cancelling out a penalty equaliser from Lamine Diaby Fadiga.
The match at Stadion Miejski im. Henryka Reymanta started with the hosts on top. Kacper Trelowski was forced into a save from Angel Rodado in the third minute. Shortly after, referee Tomasz Kwiatkowski initially awarded a penalty to Wisła, but the decision was overturned following a VAR review. Raków failed to register a single shot on target in the first half.
Wisła's pressure told in the 54th minute. After Lamine Diaby Fadiga lost possession in his own half, Julian Lelieveld set up Julius Ertlthaler, who finished calmly past Trelowski. The visitors struggled to find a response. In the 73rd minute, Diaby Fadiga turned the ball in from a corner, but after a lengthy VAR check, the goal was ruled out for offside.
Raków were awarded a penalty in the 84th minute after a VAR review of a challenge by Víctor Meseguer on Diaby Fadiga. The Guinean forward stepped up and converted confidently for his fourth league goal of the season. "It was an important goal, but the final result is bitter for us," Diaby Fadiga said afterwards.
In stoppage time, a needless foul by Oskar Repka near the touchline gave Wisła a free-kick. Patryk Makuch's clearance fell to Kacper Duda, whose shot took a decisive deflection off Bogdan Racovitán and found the net. It was Wisła's sixth consecutive home win this season.
For Raków, who remain bottom of the standings with just 7 points, this was a second consecutive defeat under new manager Dawid Szwarga. The team now faces a tough run, hosting 14th-placed Lechia Gdańsk next Saturday, October 31st. Raków have won only one of their last five league matches and possess the league's leakiest defence, conceding over two goals per game on average. Szwarga has a week to prepare his side for another key fixture.
