Raków Częstochowa goalkeeper Kacper Trelowski has spoken openly about feeling shame due to the club's severe crisis. The team sits bottom of the Ekstraklasa after 11 matches, with just six points and a goal difference of minus eleven. This means Raków has already conceded 26 goals, one of the worst records in the league, and trails leaders Górnik Zabrze by a massive twenty points.
The club from Częstochowa is experiencing deep turmoil this season. This marks the third coaching change of the campaign. Tomasz Kaczmarka, who took over on September 8th after a one-million-zloty move from Radomiak Radom, was dismissed after five matches in charge, recording two wins and three losses. "I thank my players and staff, all the people at the club for our joint work and trust," Kaczmarka said in a farewell statement.
The new head coach is 36-year-old Dawid Szwarga, who returns to the club after a previous stint as an assistant. Szwarga has experience managing Arka Gdynia, leading them to promotion to the top flight.
Kacper Trelowski did not hide his frustration. "Of course I didn't expect such a slump from Raków," the goalkeeper admitted. "The main cause was our poor form, and then, when we fell into a spiral of defeats, we couldn't break out of it." Trelowski stressed that the responsibility for results lies with the players, despite the frequent changes in the coaching position. He believes the feeling of shame is a natural reaction to the current situation.
Raków's record from the last five matches reads two wins and three defeats. Following a 2-1 win over Motor Lublin and a 2-3 loss to Zagłębie Lubin, the team lost 2-3 to Korona Kielce, won 4-1 against Polonia Bytom, then suffered a heavy 1-4 defeat to GKS Katowice. The last match, however, brought a glimmer of hope with a 2-1 victory over Wieczysta Kraków, where Lamine Diaby Fadiga scored two late goals. Patryk Makuch remains the team's top scorer with six goals in eleven appearances.
The first test for the new coach will be an away match against sixth-placed Wisła Kraków on Friday, October 24th. The upcoming games will be key in the battle to avoid relegation.
