Raków Częstochowa continues its tradition of paying tribute to its departed legends. Ahead of All Saints' Day, a club delegation visited the graves of former players, coaches, and officials, lighting candles in their memory.
This year's visit to cemeteries in Częstochowa included club staff, historian Iwo Mandrysz, and graduates of the Raków Academy. "We light candles on the graves of deceased players, coaches, and officials at various cemeteries," says Iwo Mandrysz. "We visit those who have passed away and left their mark on the club's history. We also remember those who rest outside Częstochowa."
To enable supporters to pay their personal respects, Raków has prepared a special map. It is designed to help locate the burial places of individuals connected to the club across different cemeteries. A short video report from the visit was also created and shared by the club on its channels.
The tradition of pre-holiday visits has been maintained at Raków for years. It is an important moment of reflection and remembrance for the people who built the club's foundations, both on and off the pitch. Involving young academy players aims to pass this tradition on to the next generation.
Currently, Raków's first team, led by coach Dawid Szwarga, is preparing for upcoming league challenges. The team will soon face Lechia Gdańsk, which will be an important test in the fight for seasonal objectives.
The Częstochowa club in this season's Ekstraklasa is trying to rebuild momentum after a somewhat shaky start. The upcoming matches, the schedule for which is available in our fixtures, will decide the final position in the table. Recent results show the team needs consistent form to stay in the upper part of the league standings. The final act of this year's visit was the symbolic lighting of a candle of remembrance for all who forever remain a part of Raków Częstochowa's history.
