Raków Częstochowa have a new head coach. The club has officially confirmed the return of Dawid Szwarga to lead the first team.

The club announced the move in an official statement. "Dawid Szwarga has once again become the coach of Raków Częstochowa's first team," it read. "The contract with the coach has been signed until the end of the 2027/28 season with an option to extend." Szwarga replaces Tomasz Kaczmarek, who was dismissed on Monday after just 41 days in charge. Raków are rooted to the bottom of the PKO BP Ekstraklasa table with only six points from eleven matches.

The decision to bring back Szwarga aims to bring immediate stability. The 36-year-old coach knows the Raków environment intimately, having worked as an assistant to Marek Papszun from 2021 to 2023 and again in 2024. He served as the first-team coach in the 2023/2024 season, guiding the side to the Europa League group stage. After leaving Częstochowa, he took over at Arka Gdynia, securing promotion to the Ekstraklasa in 2026. At the start of this season, he was an assistant to Rafał Górak at GKS Katowice.

The task facing the new coach is enormous. Raków have only two wins and nine defeats, with a goal difference of minus eleven after conceding 26 times. The team trails league leaders Gornik Zabrze by a massive 20 points. Their last league match, a 2-1 win over Wieczysta Kraków on October 16th, was not enough to save Kaczmarek's job. Patryk Makuch, with six goals, is the team's top scorer this season.

Szwarga is thrown straight into the deep end. His official debut in the role is scheduled for Saturday, October 24th, in an away fixture against sixth-placed Wisla Krakow. Raków then face Motor Lublin in the Polish Cup, followed by league matches against Pogoń Szczecin and Legia Warszawa.

The club hopes Szwarga's experience and familiarity will help reverse the terrible run of form. His predecessor, Tomasz Kaczmarek, left with a record of two wins and three losses from five league games. Earlier this season, Dawid Kroczek and Dawid Szulczek also held the head coach position. The new manager was born on October 7, 1990, in Jastrzębie-Zdrój and began his coaching career as an assistant at GKS Katowice in 2018.
