Raków Częstochowa finally broke their poor run of form by securing their first win of the Ekstraklasa season. In the 8th round, they defeated Motor Lublin 2-1 at home, with Patryk Makuch emerging as the match-winner.
The match did not start according to plan for the hosts. In the 34th minute, Kamil Lukoszek scored from distance to give the visitors the lead. The response came eight minutes later. Following an assist from Marko Bulat, Patryk Makuch equalised. The Raków striker scored the decisive goal in the 77th minute, converting a pass from Vladyslav Kochergin.
Despite this important victory, Raków Częstochowa remains in last place, 18th, in the Ekstraklasa standings. After seven matches played, they have just three points, all from this single win. Their goal difference stands at 8 scored and 15 conceded. They trail leaders Górnik Zabrze by a significant 15 points, with Wieczysta Kraków directly above them, holding a one-point advantage.
For the team from Częstochowa, this is only the beginning of the fight for survival. The next, very difficult test will be an away match against Legia Warszawa, scheduled for November 7th. The Warsaw side currently sits 3rd in the table, and the last meeting between these teams, on March 22nd, ended in a 1-1 draw. The Raków manager emphasised the importance of the result. "It was a very much-needed win for the team's and the fans' morale." he said after the match. The team now has time to prepare for the upcoming challenges, hoping the victory over Motor will become a turning point in the season.
