Raków Częstochowa lost 3-2 to Korona Kielce in Saturday's Ekstraklasa matchday 9 fixture. It is another defeat in a dreadful run that leaves the team rooted to the bottom of the table with just three points.
Korona took the lead in the 20th minute through a Mariusz Stępiński penalty. Camilo Mena made it 2-0 thirteen minutes later, assisted by Wiktor Długosz. Raków pulled one back in the 58th minute when Lamine Diaby Fadiga scored following a pass from Oskar Repka. Hopes of a comeback were quickly dashed as Stępiński netted his second penalty just four minutes later.
Manager Tomasz Kaczmarek tried to turn the tide with a series of changes. Bogdan Mircetic and Adam Basse came on in the 67th minute, followed shortly by Marko Perović. It was Mircetic who provided late hope, scoring in the 82nd minute after coming off the bench. His touch was, however, Raków's last meaningful action of the match. Mircetic also received a yellow card in added time.
This defeat solidifies Raków's very difficult position. The team has one win and seven losses from eight matches played, with a goal difference of 10 scored and 18 conceded. Leaders Gornik Zabrze are already 18 points clear of the Częstochowa side. In their last five games, Raków have suffered four defeats, including losses to Lech Poznan and Gornik.
Patryk Makuch, who scored a penalty in the previous match against Zaglebie Lubin, did not find the net this time. He remains the team's top scorer this season with five goals in eight appearances. Raków's next chance to break the poor run comes on October 9th, when they host GKS Katowice.
